Rafael Yuste
Neurobiologist
Madrid, 1963. Rafael Yuste is a professor of biology science and director of the Neurotechnology Center at Columbia University in New York. He studied Medicine at the Autonomous University of Madrid and the Jiménez Díaz Foundation, and after working with Sydney Brenner at Cambridge, he studied Neurobiology with Larry Katz and Torsten Wiesel at Rockefeller University in New York City. He specialized in Biophysics in Bell laboratories with David Tank and Winfried Denk. In 2016, helped coordinate the launch of the international initiative BRAIN, the Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (brain research through the Advanced Neurotechnology Project). He currently participates in establishing ethical guidelines for neurotechnology and Artificial intelligence (“neurorights”).
