Susan Neiman
Philosopher
Writer and Philosopher. She is one of the leading heirs to the thought of Hannah Arendt. She has written extensively on the Enlightenment, moral philosophy, metaphysics and politics. She is the author of widely-translated books that have won many awards, among them Left is Not Woke (2024), in which she explores the intellectual roots and sources of wokeness and their contradictions with the basic ideas of the left, Learning from the Germans (2020) about learning from historical mistakes, in which she combines personal reflection, philosophy and the art of conversation; and Evil in Modern Thought (2012), where she deals with the concept of evil from the Enlightenment to the end of the 20th century, taking into consideration thinkers’ reactions to the Lisbon earthquake, the genocide at Auschwitz and the 11th September attacks in the United States.
