Pedro Miguel Echenique

Isaba (Spain), 1950. Pedro Miguel Echenique holds a Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. He chairs the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC). He is Full Professor of Condensed­matter Physics at the University of the Basque Country. He promoted and headed the first mixed centre of the Higher Centre of Scientific Research (Spain) and the University of the Basque Country. He also played a leading role carrying out the CIC Nanogune, whose board of members he chairs. Besides, he is Vice President of Fundación Euskampus and Honorary President of Jakiunde (Academy of Science, Arts and Humanities). He has been awarded, among others, the Max Planck Physics Award and the Príncipe de Asturias of Scientific Research.

Interview: Gustazo Schwartz

Gustavo Ariel Schwartz is graduated in Physical Sciences by the University of Buenos Aires (1995), and he received a PhD by this university in 2001. Since 2008 he is tenured scientist of the National Spanish Research Center (CSIC). He is also the founder and the director of Mestizajes Program, which aims to explore and walk the boundaries between Arts, Science and Humanities. He has published E l otro lado, a book of short­stories, he has co­written the theater play L a entrevista and he runs the blog A rte, Literatura y Ciencia.
